Pride and Pythia

Day 6: Pride and Pythia

As the eyes are the window to the soul, so swordsmanship can afford a view to one’s character.

How we approach our training and study, our comportment in victory and defeat, our rationalization and interpretation of transgressions real or perceived reveals glimpses into the otherwise buried foundations of our contrived constructs. Through bearing candid witness to these clues in ourselves are we afforded the perspectives necessary to undertake measures to reinforce the bedrock upon which the stability and endurance of our hearth depends.

To remain blind to this vision is our choice; and while such denial may spare us our own examination, it does nothing to avert the gaze of those around us. We cannot shut our eyes so tight it precludes the ability for others to see.
